Terror Attacks Against Israel Spike Over Summer

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers – 1 Peter 4:7

Day to day life for many Israelis appears to be getting more dangerous, as a recent report released from the Shin Bet, Israel’s security agency, indicates.

According to their latest findings reported on Monday, September 5th, there was a significant increase in the number of terror attacks recorded in August – 178 total attacks, compared to 53 during July. These statistics include the recent rocket strikes from the Gaza Strip. A total of 145 rockets and 46 mortar shells were fired into Israel in August, in contrast to July’s totals of 20 rockets and two mortar shells.

As you can imagine, these attacks have been devastating in terms of loss of lives, physical damage and emotional turmoil, with 9 Israelis dead and another 55 wounded. Most of the fatalities occurred during a coordinated attack by a terror squad in the southern region of Israel, targeting a passenger bus, a military patrol and a private vehicle.

Most of us cannot fathom waking up each day to the threat of rockets, mortars, firebombs and terrorist attacks in our neighborhoods. The uncertainty and stress brought upon families throughout the epicenter region due to the constant threat of violence impacts every aspect of daily activities.
Please remain fervent and serious in your prayers for the people living in Israel and throughout the epicenter region. Pray also for the innocent lives impacted in the neighboring Palestinian and Arab communities. Pray for God’s peace in the hearts of many during these times of unrest. Pray for the political leaders to have wisdom and diligence as they make decisions that will affect countless lives. Thank you for continuing to stand with The Joshua Fund to bless Israel and her neighbors in the name of Jesus.
