Blessing Less Fortunate and Lone Israeli Soldiers
When you go out to battle against your enemies and see horses and chariots, a people more than you, do not be afraid of them. For the LORD your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. – Deuteronomy 20:1
The Joshua Fund recently had a wonderful opportunity at our warehouse to bless Israeli Defense Forces soldiers who come from less fortunate families.
Together, we prepared food packs for a group of 140 soldiers from an elite forces battalion, all who are from families in need. Their level of need is determined by the army's social command through interviews, documentation, and home visits. A small group of the soldiers we served are what the IDF calls "Lone Soldiers", meaning they have no siblings and no parents living within Israel, so it is a real blessing for them to have someone who cares about them and what they are doing to protect the nation of Israel.
Six soldiers helped pick ‘n’ pack food products for about four hours. Two long tables made a production line for a “Bag 1 / Bag 2" packing method: blue bags with products 1-9, and pink bags with products 10-18. Work was fun not only for the soldiers but for our Israeli warehouse manager as well. The battalion then sent a truck to pick up what the soldiers packed.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to bless these men and women who live and serve in one of the most dangerous regions of the world.
