A Heartbreaking Decision and Prayer Needed

The Joshua Fund has financed the transportation and housing cost for many children of the epicenter who are in need of open heart surgery and who otherwise wouldn’t receive the life-saving operation in Israeli hospitals. Incredibly, it’s usually the children of Israel’s enemies who come to Israel for the surgery. During their last trip to Israel, two of our staff members, John and Cheryl Moser, were privileged to help bring children from Gaza to Israel for medical evaluation. On this trip, they encountered a situation that was very difficult. In their words:

“Unfortunately, the situation of baby Osama and his mother broke our hearts. He was so sick. His skin was grey, and his fingers and around his mouth was blue. He was so thin and tiny. We were able to hold him and sing to him and silently pray for him throughout the day.

“As the day wore on it looked like the doctors were going to keep him and do surgery on him immediately. However, late in the afternoon, a couple came in from the West Bank with their very sick baby. They had been sent there by a doctor who said he needed surgery immediately. Only one intensive care bed was available, so one of these very sick babies was going to be sent home.

"It was heart-breaking to watch these two mothers as the doctors did further testing on their babies so they could make the very difficult decision as to which one would be able to get the lifesaving surgery and which one would have to go home and wait for another day. In the end, the doctors had to send little Osama back to Gaza to wait for his surgery.”

Please pray for little Osama and his mother, that they would know the love of Jesus Christ, and that Osama will get the medical attention he needs.
